I wanted my first post to be about someplace local and I couldn’t be happier starting off with Zunheboto, also known as the Land of Warriors. It is a district in the state of Nagaland, India located about 150 kms from the capital city of Kohima.
Since I was on a work-related trip, I didn’t have the luxury of wandering off on my own, hence the limited content
I did manage to visit the Sumi Baptist Church Zunheboto, currently the largest Baptist Church in Asia. I also got to visit quite a lot of picturesque little villages with breathtaking landscapes.
The journey was an arduous one over rough terrain but the natural beauty I got to witness was reward enough. I came across some villages which seemed so close to the naked-eye, when in reality they were separated by impassable virgin forests. Had it not been for work I would never have ventured so deep into this region despite being a native of Nagaland.
This is definitely not an everyday destination but totally worth visiting.
The road journey was an arduous one over rough terrain but the beauty of the region made it worthwhile
